Yesterday, today, tomorrow

In almost 25 years of company history, many stories, countless anecdotes and a lot of experience have accumulated, which have driven a company to develop and grow - but also to change its orientation on the market. We have mastered countless challenges over these many years and are proud to still be able to welcome our customers today and support them in the realization of their projects. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow - all that matters is today and that our customers are satisfied.

Yesterday, today, tomorrow

From hobby...

We are often asked how the company came about or who the creative minds behind the company are. But let's start at the beginning: It all began in October 1999 with the idea of how we could provide people with a service that was unaffordable for many at the time. Domains were about as expensive as an annual gym membership and the associated storage was even more expensive. In addition, the servers were often located abroad.

However, the location abroad did not yet play such a central role as it does today due to data protection - the focus was much more on the loading speed of a website, which were very poor due to the poor Internet connections to the United States at the time. The idea of self-employment was born in order to provide as many people as possible with their own website at a reasonable price and to earn a few "coins" with the hobby on the side.

Who are you actually?

We are Patrick Bohn and Maik Hausknecht - two people who have turned their hobby and their "faible" for computer systems, telecommunications and data centers into a profession. While we were still a reseller of web hosting products in our early days, we knew right from the start that good customer service can only be provided if you create your own products and services.

Datacenter

So we started buying our own servers, storing them in datacenters and renting them out. And because this was very well received by our customers, our company continued to grow and the number of servers increased. Of course, this also had disadvantages, because if something "stuck", we often had to travel long distances on the road to be able to rectify the fault in the end. This, you could say, gave rise to the desire to have our own datacenter.

Challenges

While the dream of having your own office and data center is in the back of your mind, you still have to keep the day-to-day business running. You draw up quotations, deal with any problems that customers may have and ensure that the computer systems are always running without interruption. While you often wish there were more than 24 hours in a day, there are challenges and tasks that you can't really spare the time for.

Emotions

Even if the tasks sometimes bring a person to the end of their physical strength, there are few better emotions than seeing the project take shape at the end and being rewarded with a great sight. If one or two visitors, customers or interested parties then have a few words of praise, you realize that it was worth all the effort and are pleased with the work you have done.

What about today and where will the journey take us?

Today - almost 25 years later - we look after a large number of customers, have our own data center in the heart of Saarland and are responsible for keeping a large number of services up and running on a daily basis. In detail, this means that we need a large supply of coffee in order to meet the challenges that arise every day.

The internet has changed a lot in this long period of time and will continue to evolve. New technologies emerge almost daily and new products that two decades ago could only be seen in good science fiction films are coming out every week. So we won't be able to tell you where the journey will take us - but is that so important? What's more important are the people that the Internet connects, and at distances that were not thought possible back then. What is more important is that we can be proud of something. We are proud that many of our customers have been with us since the beginning of Net-Build - thank you very much for that :)

Best regards
Patrick Bohn and Maik Hausknecht
